Battlefield 1942 Not Launching

Battlefield 1942 and all of the patches and mods loaded with no problems. When trying to start the program, my screen flashes a couple of times and then comes back to the desktop. It does not show any errors. Can anyone help explain this. It ran fine on Windows XP-64 which I had previously. QUOTE='Renevent42'Couple caveats.this does not include any of the expansions and you will only be able to play with other people on this same version (ie can't play with folks who have the CD version). WasdieWhy the latter? Are they running a different version of the game or something? In their FAQ they said they did modify the game slightly to be able to work with Origin/Digital Distribution and that the game will only show servers for this version. I don't know if there was any technical reasons for doing it like this, or if it was just a business reason.either way it's free I guess. At least that's what one of the guys at DICE said. They aren't supported, but they may work fine.Since the game is so small, and most people don't have it installed anyways, it shouldn't be an issue.I think it would be perfect for a game night game or something like that. I can't go back to any of the other BF games. I re-played BF1942 a year or two ago.honestly I thought it was still plenty fun.BF3 of course is a technically superior game, and in many ways just better overall, there's stuff about the original that's still great fun though.

For instance launching attacks from the aircraft carriers, or hell, manning those huge cannons and bombarding the shore! Obviously I don't think anyone expects this to overtake BF3 or any newer game, but since it's free (and still fun) it's a nice distraction and worth booting up every once in a while IMO. Aw, back when the Battlefield series kicked ass.

KHAndAnimeIt's better now.Just use the sv98Play the game where if you get under 60% accuracy, you reformat your computer.I've already lost: 56%, 2 grosif you use sv98, it can really hurt your spm and kdr in TDM. Unless your aim is on fire, e.g)(If anyone asks why my kdr is not infinite, I just revive any teamates I see, and then we both just die)One of my friends wanted to punch me for constantly doing that. QUOTE='JigglyWiggly'QUOTE='achilles614'Anyone know how hardware intensive this is? I want to run it on my school laptop, specs: i5-2410m (HD2000 iGPU), 6gb RAM, and a 5,400 rpm HDD. Been looking for a good game to play in my spare time at the library for when I don't feel like lugging my G75 around. It'll run fine go play quake live in the library people never believe me when I tell them I play on a laptop a lot. People who need good setups to play r badI don't mind playing on a laptop, just a matter of finding the right settings to get a good FPS (minimum settings is fine with me).

I keep my old logitech g5 in my backpack because track pads suck even for browsing or autoCAD. It's kinda sad when my laptop runs autoCAD better than the schools HP workstations:( Quake live is a good idea, though I remember it not having the best server selection for southeast US. That and my schools wifi is so-so. State college and crappy budgets ftw. QUOTE='JigglyWiggly'QUOTE='achilles614'Anyone know how hardware intensive this is? State college and crappy budgets ftw.I should mention that I am not playing on a garbage setup on the go. I toss out a headset(well usually just earbuds) and razer goliathus and a spare abyssus.South east, I think there's a server in texas and ashburn. You could stop being a poor person and just get a WWAN card/usb/cell phone and tether w/ LTE.I ping 4.2.2.1 with 20ms on at&T's lte.Jitter is minimal too.Of course, there is no LTE where I am at right now =/ from att(Verizon has towers up). But when I tested it in Pleasanton at my parent's, it was too epin.30 mb/s dl and like 7 mb/s upConsistent fast speeds.Until you get throttled past 5 gigabytes (Verizon grandfathered users dont' get throttled though)Also I saw your g75 in your sig, why would you pick the 670m?That's a rebranded 480m.

In fact, you can flash the bios from a 670m onto a 480m.It's power inneficient and bad all around. I would have gotten a 660m, or a 680m.Also that laptop doesn't even support WWAN.Laptops that don't support WWAN should be banned. I have a sprint mobile broadband 'thing' but it's not very good, just something my Dad brought home from his work. The 670m has had power optimization done vs. The 480m (I thought it was 470m) it's not too bad.

Asus doesn't offer a 680m with the G75 and the model that had the 660m on only came with a crappy 900p display I really wanted 1080p. 660m got beaten by the 670m in the benchmarks I checked when I was buying it and it get it to 670m performance it required OCing which kinda negates any power draw or temperature advantage (even though nobody cares about power draw in a gaming laptop lol). I used it for a few hours straight while doing borderlands 2 LAN, stayed nice and cool didn't burn my lap or any weird sh!t like that. But that's all irrelevant compared to the epic trolling nvidia did by releasing the 670mx (kepler), That's what I get for buying a product the week it's out, it was a step above an impulse purchase. PC tech gets outdated so fast and I hardly game enough lately to justify all this crap. yeah I bring a mouse pad and my audio-technica headphones, feels right at home:). Lol sprint 3g is about twice as fast as dial up. I got fed up ofSprint's terrible network that I just loaded a Verizonprl and let it torrent 70 gigs and got kicked off them, no early terminattion fee etc.

I also got that HTC evo free at the Google I/o conference I am an ass. On att's HSPA+ network I do 7 megabits outside and 2-3 inside. I plan to buy a 680m for my np8130 the 560m is feeling a bit old now.

600$ for a 680m is not too unreasonable.JigglyWiggly Sprint 3g/4g is terrible, my Dad only has it because he has to travel for his work a lot (mostly medical conferences, though I think the CEO just conveniently plans them in fun vacation spots.oh well) and he uses it off-site when working. I wouldn't use my laptop outside in the FL heat.:( Will a 680m even fit in a laptop that was meant for a 560m?

And can the cooling handle it? I thought you needed something the size of the big alienware laptops to fit one. Talk about weird, I googled your sager model and 680m and the first link was to a thread on the sager site that you were posting in, creeepy. Have fun with a dead $600 GPU in a year or two, it's not 'recommended' whatever that means. I wouldn't waste the $600, I'd just put it towards another sager that comes with a 680m. (560m oc'z nice, stock memory is like 1200mhz? I put it to 1625mhz)I am sure it will be fine.I don't want a new sager model. The new ones don't let you overclock the refresh rate on the monitors because of optimus.I need dat 95hz.Also it's not a surprise my post came up, I post a lot about it.Though I want to get a lenovo x230 refresh with haswell. It would be heavenz if it had a 120hz display too.Dream laptop.
