It displays all of the specifics for the gametype currently being played in the server. In addition to the Rules feature, pressing F3 (by default) will display the name of all allied players above their respective green arrows, so long as friend indicators are enabled in the gametype. This is extremely useful on large maps, where locating a specific player would otherwise be extremely difficult.Halo Editing Kit Main article:The, commonly referred to by its acronym, HEK, is a repackaging of the development tools that Bungie created and used in the development process of Halo: Combat Evolved. The Halo Editing Kit was released for the creation of custom content for Halo Custom Edition. It is a free, unsupported add-on released by Gearbox Software. With the Halo Editing Kit, AI characters can also be added in a map. This has allowed some map makers to create their own that can be played like a campaign mission with checkpoints and objectives, and with some skill, cutscenes. People can also make 'teams' of AI that will fight each other.

It is used by map designers to test out maps they make. Some designers created a specialized devmode program called 'alldev.'

This allows Custom Edition users to open devmode on servers that they created. Devmode can be used to many uses like giving players bottomless clips or unlimited health. Devmode is also used to play single player maps made for Halo CE.LimitationsOpen Sauce 3.1 Demonstration - New Ghost BoostfullThe engine has become frustrating to many map developers, as more complicated features require more complicated procedures. Theoretically, everything possible with other Halo engines is also possible with Halo CE, but is often imperfect. Mappers have come up with a make shift boosting system through continuous damage indicators, usually behind the player, to speed up the vehicle.

This has been modified to deal 0 damage, but still shows arrows indicating damage on the HUD. This technique is no longer required with. There are also possibilities of dual-wielding, although still imperfect.

The user converts it into one weapon, replacing the secondary trigger (grenades) for the secondary weapon trigger, although when you pick it up, you instantly pick up two instead of one. One of the most frustrating was the limited space for tags, one of the problems the Custom Mapping Team has faced. This has not been a concern to many mappers, though.CommunitySeveral modding communities have emerged since the advent of Halo CE.

One of the most prominent communities is which has the most updated multiplayer custom maps. Modders use the Halo Editing Kit to incorporate custom models, images, physics, and data into an easily distributed.MAP file, which is compressed and uploaded. In the game, many clans establish themselves to fight one another on custom maps. They train intensely on some maps, which extends and steepens the learning curve for many players.

Halo Custom Edition has also been used for several Machinima videos. As such, there are several modded versions of existing maps, not to mention some completely new maps designed specifically for Machinima. One change caught my eye.Ghost boost removed. You just killed speedrunning on Halo, AotCR and probably TSC:E, too. Also made some eggs or at least some areas inaccessible.Speeding with the Ghost during the last part of AotCR was one of my favorite parts of spv3. Take a Ghost from near the sleeping Grunts and then do your best to keep it stable while you boost to the bridge and across it and then through the tunnel and find that the enemies above didn't spawn because you went too fast to trigger them while you were in the tunnel or maybe the game ran out of memory. Yes, that happened to me.

And if the enemies are there boost uphill and to the top of the pyramid and notice that you don't have to press the second door switch because the enemies do it for you and you can simply drive your way into the Control Room. That is all very exciting, if you could actually get that far into the mission because when playing like this you always get the elevator crash. That was really the only thing I hated and wanted to be patched. It's fixed now, but you took away something that I liked even more. Also, the only way I know how to complete Halo is to skip the first tower fight, because it takes forever to kill all the waves of enemies and equally long to wait for the Longsword, and pass the lightbridge on foot. Across the bridge there is a very conveniently placed Ghost (thank you for that) which I then boost into the energy shield in the next area until I get high enough to go through it, then at Alpha Base I use a rock as a ramp to boost over the wall and take a Gungoose to finish the rest of the mission. This made getting through the new areas very easy.Sure, the boost makes the Ghost very unstable and nearly impractical to drive, but no one is forced to use it.

If you want the extra speed and are willing to take the risk associated with it the option should be there. Please bring it back.

It's quite amazing what people were able to pull off with the ghost boost, but ultimately what removing it came down to was that it was only used for exploits, and that removing it free'd up a considerable amount of script space that lets us do other things, such as optimizations that creates less effect popping, improve sprint, fix crashes, and give us wiggle room for other assorted things. That said, all eggs SHOULD still be accessible if there are any that aren't I can look into it and see if I am wrong (which I entirely could be) and if so make changes to them.
